Changes
Dear Lovers,
I need to make some changes. I’ve reached the point in summer where I feel like I’m burning the candle from both ends. I’ve begun attending births again as a doula and am also back in midwifery school, hoping to be a licensed midwife in the next few years. Wish me luck! Between births, studying, doing Craniosacral for babies and moms, and chasing my 2 little boys around I’m tired. I love my work and I’m feeling pretty overwhelmed.
I began writing Sexy As A Mother while I was pregnant with my second son, nearly 3 years ago. He’s almost 2 and a half now! I started this project both as a way to keep one toe hold in the outer world, knowing I was about to enter the intense underworld of postpartum baby-land, as well as to share my expertise on women’s health, pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and sexuality. Over the years, through maternity leave and back again, I’ve experimented with writing every other week, once a month, and most recently through the summer weekly.
While I love writing weekly, with everything on my plate write now I’ve got to go back to publishing monthly and am planning to add a paywall near the middle of most of my pieces. If you’d like to receive all of my writing going forward please upgrade to paid. While I want this writing and this information to be available I also value my work and my time and need to build a financial structure that reflects this, that’s sustainable.
This work is an avenue of expression for me, a place to be creative and also a form of activism. I hope to be a part of changing our cultural norms around sexuality, birth and how we care for women and mothers. We can do so much better! That’s what this writing is about for me.
Thank you to all of you who have supported this work and reached out with kind words and encouragement! We can change the world together. One empowering birth at a time. One empowering orgasm at a time. Let’s raise our fists and our cunts together! Women rising, mother’s rising, and mother-lovers too! We all come from a mother. We all come from birth. We all share this blood. When mothers aren’t cared for during their most vulnerable time of birthing, no one is. This is where we start.
See you in September.
Love,
Carol
