As the summer is about to kick off, I’ve had an idea to pop in every other week and share a story from “Mom-Land.” I’m hoping to write every week this summer, even as my kids are out of school, so this is a way to drop in with something quick to make you laugh or cry and to stay connected. I would love for you to share stories about your kids in the comments too! Let’s grow this community and help each other feel seen and valued, even in the crazy days of summer with all the fun adventures and stress of losing our regular rhythms. I’m also about to use paywalls a few times a month and hoping more of you will become paid subscribers. It only costs about one cappuccino a month and would allow me to quit my day job. (Just kidding! But it would help support this work and maybe pay for some diapers.)
Here’s my first story: The Peach
The other night as we were getting ready for bed with our two little boys, right after brushing teeth, our 2-year-old said, “There’s a peach under the couch.” I laughed thinking it was probably a bouncy ball or some other orange toy and said, “Well go get it, Honey.” Our chubby little guy got down on his knees, reached under the couch and pulled out a half-eaten peach. Then he started to eat it. Our 6-year-old ran over and took a bite too. We all laughed and then brushed teeth again. When did he hide the peach under the couch? How long had it been there?! Thank goodness he remembered to get it before it grew into a fuzzy rotten monster.
Ok your turn! Please share a story below. If you don’t have kids, share a story about a pet or a friend’s kid or whatever you want. Happy summer everyone! Good luck and let’s get through this fun and chaotic time together.
*I’m working on my next post titled: Vagina Full of Rainbows, A How-To Guide
This is going to be a good one! Stay tuned and please upgrade to paid if you can :)
